Passion Over Perfection

Passion…

That thing that lights you up from the inside.  Makes your spirit sing and your company so infectious you light others up and they can’t wait to spend time with you.  Passion makes hours feel like minutes and life feel like a breeze.

Perfection…

The soul-sucking quest for something that doesn’t exist.

Perfection is a paradox.
Perfection is an illusion.
Perfection is an opinion.

Everyone’s idea of perfection is slightly different.  Yet we drive ourselves to distraction in order to reach this non-existent ‘ideal’.

Aiming for perfect will make you feel you’re not good enough, hold you back, block your creativity and, ultimately, your happiness.  Because perfectionism is never about what you think of you; it’s about what you think others will think of you.

…perfectionism is never about what you think of you; it’s about what you think others will think of you.

Whenever perfectionism is the main dish, there’s usually a side order or two of negative emotions to accompany it.  One of these is fear.  Fear is a huge player in perfectionism; fear of what others will think; fear of criticism, fear of failure, even fear of success.

Then, there are those gorgeous souls who choose passion over perfection.  They have something in their life they are ridiculously passionate about.  They can’t wait to share it with you and the way they seem lit from within as they do is infectious.  They make you feel alive too.

Their road is far from ‘perfect’ but they are carried by their passion.  Their lives can seem effortless, because that’s how it feels when your passion is in the driving seat, rather than the impossible struggle for perfect.

Those who choose passion over perfection are carried by their love and belief in what they’re doing.  Moreover, they are content with good enough.

Simply,

Love what you do
Do the best you can
Have a ton of fun

And remember,

Good enough is more than okay.

 With so much love,
Eve xx
